Born in Warsaw on June 13, 1924, Bronisław Baczko died at home among his books and papers on August 29, 2016 in Geneva. Intellectual work will have inhabited him until his last breath. The generous historian of ideas, of Rousseau, of utopia, of social imaginations and of the French Revolution leaves a dense and considerable work, translated in many countries. From 1974 to 1989, he gave the Faculty of Letters - University of Geneva of the University of Geneva what it can have of the best in terms of research and teaching. Recipient in 1999 of the Prize of the City of Geneva - Official , he received in 2011 the Balzan Prize for his contribution to philosophical reflection devoted to the thought of Rousseau and to the study of the political and social consequences of the Enlightenment movement on the event…
