À propos

Rousseau writes at a time when the new forms of rationality intend to free believers from certain prerogatives of religion and when modern politics wants to distinguish the man of faith from the one who makes the law. However, religion was his affair, as it was of all the philosophers of the Enlightenment. Religion ? Rather not the religions: those he met, crossed, thought, lived, loved, feared. With Rousseau, it is a question of thinking at the same time what attaches us to religions and what

what they take us away from. The plural is de rigueur like the attention that leads to it. The violence of religions can kill when the believer needs it to live.

Event of the J.-J. Rousseau Society, in partnership with the MRL and the University of Geneva (Faculty of Letters, Faculty of Theology).

Free entrance. Due to the constraints linked to Covid-19, registration is compulsory on the MRL website: https://mrl.ch/evenements/les-religions-de-rousseau
