Presentation of content

Neat autograph copy of the first seven Promenades (out of the ten included in the edited text), with a few passages crossed out and crossed out. Each notebook consists of 12 bifolia. Pages numbered by Rousseau from 1 to 83, then from 84 and following. by Th. Dufour.

 

In Les Rêveries , Rousseau carries out a final work of introspection, in the form of meditations and philosophical reflections, which he himself describes as an appendix to his Confessions . In the Fifth Walk, he describes with nostalgia the moments of solitary happiness spent on the island of Saint-Pierre, in Lake Biel. Rousseau's final text, Les Rêveries , was recovered on the philosopher's death by his friend and publisher, Pierre-Alexandre DuPeyrou (1729-1794) from Neuchâtel. The latter bequeathed the manuscript by will to the Library of Neuchâtel in 1794.
